HOW THE PASS WORKS

Q: Who can purchase a Be A Tourist Pass?
A: This program is designed for South Carolina residents of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties.

Q: So what's the catch?
A: You gotta be a local. Only residents of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties are eligible to use these passes, and a valid local ID is required for all pass holders, both single and family, to gain admission to participating attractions or receive discounts at participating restaurants.

Q: Are there exchanges or refunds?
A: No, there are currently no exchanges or refunds.

Q: How long does my Be A Tourist pass last?
A: The pass is good for the entire month of January 2010.

Q: Do I have to purchase my pass online?
A: No. You can purchase your pass at official Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, or Kiawah Island Visitor Centers or give us a call at 853-8000.

Q: How much do passes cost?
A: Passes are just $20 for a single pass and $50 for a family pass (good for 4 individuals of any age).

Q: How does a family pass work?
A: A family pass is good for four people of any age. Those four people don't have to be related to each other, but they do have to be locals. And, the pass is good for one-time admission, so all four must be present to take advantage of the program.

Where did you use your @BeaTouristCHS pass this January? Did you explore any new attractions or restaurants?

With a tight budget and a large family, this is the only way we can afford to see this many attractions. Thank you.
Lauren, James Island

It's the best deal in town! Thank you for such a great opportunity to see so much of Charleston so inexpensively.
Jessica, Moncks Corner

This program gives my home-schooled children an opportunity to study the attractions and then visit them in January.
Kim, West Ashley

We want to hear about the adventures found while being a tourist in your own town!

Please contact Angelique Butler to share your stories about something you learned, something you tasted, something you saw or something you never before imagined existed in Charleston. Digital images and kids’ drawings are also welcome.
